REVIEW YYY1/2

In this new engagingly addictive installment by Aprilynne Pike I will admit to being under it's spell and happy with the turn of events in this novel.

SPELLS begins months after WINGS has ended. Laurel and David are a couple and happy together then Lauren gets summoned to Avalon to attend an academy that will help her advance in her fairy studies. Although Laurel is excited about going back to Avalon and uncovering more about her fairy heritage she knows that going back will put her in contact with Tamini and she isn't quite prepared for it. Once Lauren sees Tamani her feelings for him are still present and she knows this will only spell trouble for her. When Laurel leaves the fairy realm she finds herself struggling to balance both worlds, both boys her sanity and her heart. Yet, before those matters can be addressed Lauren has to deal with nasty trolls, a rogue band of killers and mending her suddenly drifted relationship with her mom. Being a normal girl never sounded so good.

I must admit that I found this second novel in this series better written and more believable then the first. The world building in SPELLS is better detailed and carefully layered thus creating a realm full of wondrous possibilities. I also loved the romantic tension displayed between Tamani, Lauren and David. It never hurts a story to create some good ole' tension and it was balanced well and I could sympathize with Laurel and her current quandary. The novel ended on a DUN DUN DUN situation....Oh no she just didn't do this to us and now I am totally twisting for the next novel and you will also.
